Miller spent four years working as an investigator in the NYPD Internal Affairs unit. Drawing on his experiences, Miller wrote Duty as a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth through a police-thriller filter. In a tone similar to The Departed, it focuses on the tragic rise and fall of a heroic NYPD narcotics detective who is pushed to the dark side of police corruption.
