Four stories of people desperate to avoid the loneliness of the holidays on Christmas Eve in New York. In one strand, a young street hustler gets a neighborhood tough to break his hands so he can spend Christmas in the hospital; in another, a jealous policeman gets a life lesson from a local crazy person who swears the copy is the reincarnation of his long-lost wife.
